Hi all, i had an ectopic in Oct 2018 and had methotrexate, now i am happy that I conceived again but in early scan nothing was visible apart from thickened endometrium. Got my hcg done, levels were 398 and 812 two days apart, but since the beginning of this pregnancy i am having a dull aching pain in the right lower abdomen similar to what i had previously. Last time i had my ectopic detected when the hcg levels were 312. This time in internal scan no mass or no tenderness was noted. I am still having the pain dull in nature. I hope that this time atleast everything would be positive. I am waiting for the next scan to be done, hoping foran intrauterine pregnancy. Anyone had similar experience?
Dear Pregnancy1,
I am so sorry to hear of your previous ectopic pregnancy and loss, and very sorry that you are going through this worrying time. It’s very good that you are being monitored through scans and blood tests. I know this time of waiting can be particularly frustrating. It’s normal to be anxious and to want answers.
It is not uncommon in pregnancy to experience a period like ache in your lower tummy and back. The following however should be investigated: one-sided pain in your tummy which may be persistent or intermittent, which means it can come and go. The pain may have begun suddenly or gradually, a generalised discomfort with bloating and a feeling of fullness (not associated with eating) when lying down, particularly in women who have already had a child, and significant lower abdominal and/or back pain. As well, you may experience bowel problems or if ruptured, shoulder tip pain.
Be sure to keep monitoring your symptoms and if you have any concerns of increasing pain follow up with your doctors. Certainly, if you have any signs of rupture (including shoulder tip pain), please do to go to your A&E.
With good wishes,
Michele

Thanks for the suggestions and support, i hope everything goes well…
Thickened endometrium is a good sign. Sometimes with ectopics the endometrium doesn’t get thickened because the embryo isnt there to stimulate that rapid growth.
Also a good sign you werent tender during exam. Ive noticed that the corpus luteal cysts can cause some dull achyness/tenderness/pain. Typically dont see gestational on ultrasound until beta hcg gets to 1000 or about 5 weeks. So not seeing anything in uterus yet is normal for an intrauterine pregnancy.
Because of your history with an ectopic i understand how and why you are very aware of everything. I hope baby is were its suppose to be best of luck.
