Pregnancy after ectopic In June

Hello everyone

I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy in May 2012 and was treated with methotrexate which ended the pregnancy.

I am pregnant again 4weeks 4 days. I went infor some bloods when I was 4 weeks and my HCG was 111. I then caught covid and the EPU are unable to do my bloods until my isolation period has ended (29th Sept).

Since being treated for the ectopic I’ve always has niggles on my left side (ectopic side) when ovulating/coming on my period. This pregnancy I’m experiencing tingles in my left hip going round to my lower back. Im also feeling twinges in my left ovary every now and then as well as on the right side.

Because the twinges and tingles are predominantly on the left side I’m so worried it’s ectopic again. I’m going back to EPU on Wednesday when I’ll be 5weeks 2 days … I’m not sure if they will scan me or continue with bloods until I’m further on. Waiting another 4/5 days just seems like so long I just want to know :frowning:

Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Thanks,

Amy

Dear Asha,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

Speaking from UK medical practice and standards, usually doctors carry out an internal transvaginal scan at around six weeks with subsequent pregnancies after an ectopic. This is because there is a reasonable chance of seeing an embryo around this six week mark. It may therefore be too early still to see anything on the scan and they may repeat bloods.

I would say though that if your pain worsens or you start bleeding or feel dizzy and unwell, to seek urgent medical advice. Do not let having covid stop you from seeking the help you need.

Sending much love, positive thoughts and a speedy recovery,

Karen x

Thankyou for replying. It’s good to know there is someone who understands!

I’ve still got this hip and lower back ache which I’ve been told can be normal and every now and then I feel some cramping. Im overthinking it all the time and unable to settle. The good thing at the moment is I have no signs of bleeding, last time I bled from very early on in the pregnancy.

Hopefully I can get some bloods done on Weds if they feel the scan is too early.

Thanks

Amy

Hey,

Just thinking about you. How are doing? How was your visit to the EPU?

Hi cuddles56

I just went for bloods today, I find out what they are in the morning.

If they are high enough I think they will scan me x

How did you get on xx

@Ashawwwwwwx May I know what was your outcome? I’m worried for myself as well. Waiting to get a scan done next 2 weeks as I’m pregnant now.

On and off the side that I had my ectopic before sort of feel uncomfortable.

Was this what you have experienced?
