Dear Laura,
It can be very common for us to feel aches and pains following ectopic pregnancy when we didn’t before. We are not sure why this is as there is very little research on the topic of ectopic pregnancy and symptoms.
Your periods can take a while to get back to a rhythm that is more usual for you, this can be 6 months of so. I also found that my periods and pain changed for a few months after my loss. If the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.
Please speak to your doctor with any concerns but if you have waited for 12weeks after your hCG levels have returned to pre pregnancy levels, there is no reason why you need to wait to try to conceive.
Sending much love,
Karen x
