Super Short Periods after Ectopic

I am on my third period since being treated with methotrexate for the ectopic and each one has only been 2 days. Whilst this would have been my dream in the past, I am now worried that my lining is so thin I won’t be able to conceive. I was bleeding throughout the entire ectopic (about 5-6 weeks).

I am located in the USA and due to my age I will need to pass a Clomid test on my next cycle for my insurance to cover me. I am terrified that something is wrong and have the added stress I will now fail the test.

Anyone else experience anything similar? How long did it take for your periods to get back to normal or near normal levels?

Dear Tigletty,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,

Your periods can take a while to get back to a rhythm that is more usual for you. I also found that my periods changed for a few months after my losses. I think it took around 4 months for my periods to settle. I advise keeping a diary and speaking to your medical team if they do not become more normal for you.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Thank you

I had an ectopic in June. My first real period after was a bit heavier however my second period was super light. I was basically just spotting. I had an US that month and my lining was around 7 mm on Clomid which my MD felt was acceptable. Each period has improved and gotten closer to what my “normal” prior to the ectopic. I hope this helps! I think our bodies need time to get back to baseline after such a traumatic event.
