Back in early July I fell pregnant with our first baby. Unfortunately a few weeks later it was known to be an Ectopic Pregnancy/Pregnancy Of Unknown Location. I received 1 injection of Methotrexate to treat this which was successful, bittersweet shall we say! I had light/normal bleeding for around 2 weeks after receiving the drug which was on the 5th of August. After the 2 weeks I then stopped bleeding for 4 days and then I had what seemed like my normal period, which started on the 27th of August and ended around 1st-2nd of September, but since then I haven’t had a period. I’ve had on and off symptoms of one coming for the last 6 weeks or so but nothing at all yet. It’s been just over 3 months since receiving the drug so it should all be out my system by now. I had 3/4 days of very light spotting around 2 weeks ago but again nothing of a period. My GP is sending me for bloods and a scan but I’m just so worried and frustrated that my body isn’t doing what I need and want it too! I’m worried the Methotrexate has damaged my eggs or anything inside me as Google says so many different things. Despite doing lots of research and speaking in depth with my consultant before receiving the drug and being reassured, I just still have a nagging in the back of my head! We are so desperate for a baby in our arms!
Any advice, feedback or help would be so appreciated!
I am so sorry to hear that you have suffered this ectopic pregnancy and loss. I just wanted to write and say you are doing the right thing by working with your GP to gain better clarity on the restarting of your periods. An ectopic pregnancy is a large physical and emotional trauma, and it can take our bodies some time to reestablish a routine. Periods are a very good example of this.
While I’m not medically qualified to provide specific advice, I want you to know we remain here for you, for as long as you need.
With good wishes,
Michele

I think I’ve read quite a few posts on the forum about changes in cycle after ectopics. My periods are lighter and shorter cycle length than before, it’s only been a few months so not sure if this is a new pattern or if it will go back to how it was before over time.
Having it checked sounds like a good idea, but try not to worry too. Sometimes people miss periods when they’re going through something stressful, and having an ectopic is definitely a worrying and stressful time!
