Can anyone offer any advice on periods after ectopic pregnancies . I had my ectopic on 30 oct , i then i had my first period on 1 dec - it was completely normal like my periods prior to my pregnancy. On 1 jan i went to the toilet and wiped and there blood - light pinkish colour. I thought that was it and put a tampon in . When i took it out later that evening there was barely anything there . Just the tip - if that. This has never happened to me before. Has anyone experienced this ? Is my body still settling down?
Hey
I was coming on here to ask about my periods too.
Had your HCG levels gone back to below 5 by the 1st Dec?
I am day 35 post MTX today and about to go in for bloods but I was 124 last week. I stopped bleeding for a bit then had a heavy bleed for 5 days, like a heavy period but then I realised my body was still thinking I was ‘pregnant’ so it couldn’t have been a period…?
My doctor said that they’ll discharge me when I hit 15, 2 weeks later I should take a pregnancy test and it should be negative and then 6-7 weeks after that I should get my period back, so I’m very envious if yours came back so quickly!!
Hopefully one of the ladies here can give us both some advice
Dear Kaygaff,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Following ectopic pregnancy our periods can take a number of months to settle into a rhythm that is more normal for us.
Having said that, I always advise to monitor any unusual vaginal bleeding and If you continue to bleed in between your periods of start bleeding after intercourse or if you are bleeding and there is a chance you could be pregnant, please seek medical advice.
We have more information on periods on our website which I have posted here, which Elephant and yourself may find helpful
