Pelvic pain during and after ovulation.

Hi guys ,

I was treated with methotrexate 5 months ago now. I’ve read many people suffer with ovulation pain in the tube in which it happened in.

I have had this pain since the ectopic and it happens everytime I ovulate and will last all the way up to my period and stop. We are trying again and I’m constantly on edge during the 2 week wait because of the pain. It’s in my left hip bone and travels down my leg and my back.

I’m just wondering if anyone else’s ovulation pain last for 2 weeks ? And if many people have the same symptoms.

Many thanks

Hi Ashley,

I’m sorry to hear that this intense ovulation pain has been continuing for you. As I’m not medically qualified, I definitely recommend you bring this to your doctor’s attention. As I mentioned before, I too feel it more intensely now than before my ectopics. However, if the pain is interfering with your quality of life, it is something to have looked at.

With good wishes,

Michele

Hey Ashley,

Our symptoms are likely all a bit different, but for what it’s worth in my current cycles I had cramps in the 10 days leading up to my periods, so only a slight break between ovulation pain and pre-menstrual pain… I, too, am familier with the angst that comes with it. This month I did a pregnancy test a few days before my periods were due to rassure myself about what the pain might be caused by and whether I should be concerned - maybe an option for you too, so the two weeks don’t feel quite as long?

Take care, Cam

Hi guys ,

Thanks for all your replies.

I am actually pregnant this cycle. I’m a bit nervous but I haven’t had any bleeding so far unlike my last ectopic pregnancy. And I’ve got symptoms so I’m hoping this is good news. I’ve still got pain in my tube but I’m hoping this is just the pain I always have. Staying positive till my early scan .

Thanks for all your help xx

Sending lots of positive thoughts Ashley xxx

Ovulation pain, also known as mitosis, usually lasts from a few hours to a few days and is usually localised in one of the ovaries. However, if you have pain that lasts for a fortnight and spreads down your leg and back, it may require additional attention. Long-term or intense pain may be related to a variety of medical problems such as inflammation, abnormalities within the body, or other conditions. Only your doctor, through further testing, will be able to determine the cause of the pain and offer appropriate treatment recommendations. For example, after consulting with your doctor, you can try this pain relieving medication [url removed per Trust policy]
