Hi Everyone! I’m currently in my 7 month post ectopic (PUL), trying again to conceive. My periods have been pretty consistent after being treated with Mexo, however this month I’m four days late (day 32 of my usual 28 day cycle - pretty sure I ovulated 25/26th Dec), I have a lot of symptoms which seem to suggest pregnancy but tests are coming back negative - I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this (slow rise in HCG) and went on to be pregnant? My main concern atm is that during my last ectopic I had a period about three/four days last (day 33 of my cycle) and because it was normal bleeding and duration - I had no idea I’d conceived (my view is that the hormone levels built up so slowly that my body shed it’s lining without knowing there was an embryo there somewhere), I am absolutely terrified that if the HCG is low or slow rising again it could indicate another ectopic - no pain at all atm though. Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated - Becca xxx
Dear Becca,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and concerns. Unfortunately I am not medically trained but will do my best to help.
Periods can be delayed for a number of reasons including stress or even (as surprising as it may sound) excessive exercise or weight loss. Doctors normally consider menstrual cycles of between 23-42 days to be within normal parameters. If you have not had your expected period, we would advise re-testing, using an early morning urine sample in a further week.
As you have been TTC, while I do not want to alarm you, if you experience any pain or unusual bleeding, feel dizzy and unwell, please do get medical attention as soon as you can.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Hi Karen,
thanks for your message it’s appreciated, as you suggest I will retest in a week in the morning and in the meantime keep an eye on any cramps or bleeding xxx
Actually having a similar experience right now…
My periods have always been a bit irregular but I always get pre-menstrual clues that the red tide is coming. Nothing this time, no tender breasts, no bad skin, and I’m now just on the cusp of late. Did a pregnancy test, came up negative. It doesn’t feel the same as when I had my ectopic, which came with earlyish bleeding that mimicked a period and really tender breasts, which makes me hope, but also I’m terrified that if I am pregnant and it’s not just a late period, it’s another ectopic, because low hormone… but also it might just be too early to test properly? It’s a stupid guessing game that I can’t win, basically! I’m going to test again in a few days if my period doesn’t come.
I hope everything turned out OK for you one way or the other, and sorry for hijacking your thread…
