No period, negative test

Hi all, earlier this year I had an ectopic pregnancy with removal of my right fallopian tube.

We are trying again and my period is 4 days late with two negative pregnancy tests. One the day after I was due and another this morning, which was 48 hours after the first test.

Its looking likely it’s another ectopic isn’t it… Slow rising HG levels is a sign isn’t it?

I didn’t find out until I was 8 weeks with the last one.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I can understand why you’ve gone there (I would too!) but think sometimes it’s just naturally low - the early tests they advertise are not 100%.

I wouldn’t necessarily think it’s ectopic again, I’d retest in 2 days. Also it’s 4 days, maybe this is just a late period??

As you have had a previous ectopic, if you do get a positive pregnancy test soon remember you can sell refer to the early assessment pregnancy units.

I think if I ever get pregnant again, I will feel the same but in a way, permission to relax - I think it’s too early days to be conclusive (in my no expert opinion:) Xx

Thank you, I really appreciate your response. Let’s hope it’s nothing to worry about. I’ll definitely be getting a scan at 6 weeks if I am pregnant xx

Dear CornishAnna,

Periods can be delayed for a number of reasons including stress or even (as surprising as it may sound) excessive exercise or weight loss. Doctors normally consider menstrual cycles of between 23-42 days to be within normal parameters. I would suggest completing pregnancy tests weekly until you reach 42 days since the 1st day of your last period. If it then remains negative but you still haven’t come on your period, please speak to your GP.

Kind regards,

Karen x

Thanks for the response. Just to update you, my period came 6 days late. I’ve deleted an ovulation app from my phone as I think I was getting too stressed over it all. Big hugs to everyone feeling heartbreak, low and broken X

Know what you mean about the app. Can make you feel theperiod due dates etc are an exact science. Good luck trying to conceive. x
