Late term miscarriage after 2 ectopic pregnancies

Hi

Has anyone else been through anything similar?

2018 - I had my first ectopic pregnancy in my left tube which was removed surgically.

2019 - I had my second ectopic pregnancy in the stump of my left tube. I actually did rupture and lost 3 litres of blood.

2020- I got pregnant, he was in the right place and growing perfectly i thought we’d done it and we were going to have this baby. At 22 weeks I started cramping, lost what I believe to be the mucus plug and started spotting. Scan showed my cervix had opened by 3-4cm and despite trying to have the rescue stitch to stitch my cervix, it didn’t work. On Wednesday morning I went into labour and delivered my beautiful sleeping baby boy. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

So for me it’s not just about trying to get the baby in the right place it’s trying not to go into pre term labour too. I just wondered if anyone else has had this happen to them?

Dear Bhakti,

I am just so, so sorry to hear this. My heart truly goes out to you.

I haven’t personally experienced this but a friend of mine did. She went on to have 2 successful pregnancies. She had to have regular scans on her cervix to check it wasn’t opening or thinning and worked from home on a lot of bed rest in her last trimester.

I presume you will be under specialist consultant care for your next pregnancy.

Please get the person sitting next to you to give you a huge warm, gentle hug from me.

We are here for you.

Sending much love,

Karen x
