Is this my period?

Hello All!

A bit of advice please. I had my right Fallopian tube and my ectopic pregnancy removed on 2.1.15.

Thursday evening I had very bright pink bleeding after I wiped. Since then there have been clots and more bleeding but nothing really on the sanitary towel. I feels like a period but maybe it’s just slow starting?

Also, if this is my period are we ok to start TTC after this period? During the surgery the surgeon examined my left tube and ovaries and all are very healthy.

sorry to hear you have gone through this. Do you usually get other symptoms when you have a period and do you have these/have had these recently? wonder if that could give a clue as to what is going on. Sounds like about the right sort of time after you had the ectopic doesn’t it? Perhaps waiting a day will help to see if it starts to turn into more a usual period. Did your hormone levels go back to normal yet?

I also had an ectopic last week and a tube removed. They advised to wait to of had two periods after the ectopic to give time to heal and be sure that your cycle in back on track for monitoring a future pregnancy. So it may be best to wait til you have a second period before ttc.

Great news your other tube and ovaries etc look healthy that is encouraging  good luck with it all.

Thanks for your response! It’s a full on painful period now! Apart from extra pain (which I was told may happen) it seems to be a “normal” for me period so that’s good.

I was told to wait one cycle- but maybe two is best. Can I ask- you asked about my hormone levels? How do I know they are at zero? The pregnancy and tube was removed- but I’ve had no follow up appointments after the surgery and no blood tests since? I did ask my gp of I need a blood test and he said no- but a few ppl on here keep mentioning hormone levels at zero. Is that even the case after surgery.

Sorry to hear you’ve been through it too- it’s heartbreaking isn’t it? I still feel numb about it all xxxxxx

I was advised to do a pregnancy test two weeks after , but I also did one today (6 days later) as i wanted to keep an eye on it. The pregnancy line has almost completely gone now after 6 days (very very faint) and I know it was a strong line a week ago today ( two days before ectopic diagnosed), and my breasts have also become less tender now so that was another signal to me the hormones were going down. . If it hasn’t gone in two weeks I am to call the clinic and see what they recommend. I haven’t been booked in for a follow up otherwise. Perhaps they are more likely to check hormone levels through a blood test if methotrexate has been used. Maybe you could do a pregnancy test too to see if anything shows up just so you know what is going on in your body, I found a cheap source online as ones in the shops get pretty pricey! But if you have a period it sounds like things are settling down as they should

It has been very hard to get my head around loosing a tube and I am worried about the future and further pregnancies - I just hope it will all work out ok as I really want to have kids. I really wish you the best luck for whenever you decide to try again
