Is this another ectopic pregnancy ?

I had an ectopic pregnancy almost two years ago. I had surgery and tube removed.

I am currently approx 5 weeks plus pregnant. Today my side with the remaining tube is hurting but I’m not currently in absolute agony like previously.

I have a scan next week but worried the pain will get worse over the weekend.

Hi Rachel,

I hope your pain has got less over the weekend. I am currently also roughly 5 weeks pregnant after surgery with the removal of my right tube. Friday was also not a good day for me and I ended up in the emergency department as I have pains on the side with my remaining tube also some other symptoms. However a scan was too early to reveal anything, although nothing was seen on or around my tube. So the doctor said to remain positive and have further bloods today. It is a worrying time and I understand how you are feeling. Hopefully your pain is your body adjusting to the pregnancy. Hope you have managed some rest and your scan goes well.

Xx

Dear Rachel3,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy. I am glad to hear you have a scan booked, however although I do not wish to alarm you, given that you have had a previous ectopic pregnancy, if you are currently feeling pain, I would seek urgent medical advice.

You can do this by calling your local out of hours provider, in many areas in the UK, this is NHS111.

If your pain worsens of you start bleeding or feel dizzy and unwell please seek urgent medical advice or attend your local A&E. I’m sorry if this all sounds a bit dramatic, but it is honestly better to be on the safe side.

Sending much love and warm hugs,

Karen x
