Im new and 5 weeks pregnant

Hello all,

When I was 20 years old (10 years ago) I was on the mini pill and manages to get pregnant (unknowingly) which resulted in an ectopic. This was only picked up when I started passing very large clots and lots of blood - sorry if this is TMI, I am so desperate to get this off my chest that I haven’t read through the other posts so im sorry if what ive written is upsetting or inappropriate. I had quite a few traumatic transvaginal scans as the abdominal scans couldn’t find anything and bloods were showing an ectopic. In the end I had to have a laparoscopy to locate the embryo which was on my left tube but hidden by my bowel, the pregnancy was removed but they left the tube. My first worry is will this make me prone to another ectopic as the tube wasn’t removed? My husband and I were trying to conceive for 1 month (together 11 years and married for 3), ive been on microgynon since the ectopic so I was really surprised that we got pregnant so quickly - I am thrilled but I am terrified. I have the midwife booked on the 3rd of jan, my doctor wouldn’t refer me for an early scan and said it would be down to the midwife, realistically has anyone gone on to have a normal pregnancy when they have had surgery on a fallopian tube? If the midwife wont agree to an early scan I am prepared to pay I am just so desperately hoping that this baby is in the right place - I just wish I knew now.

Also - im not sure if this is reliable or not so please educate me if you can - I got my positive last Saturday with a clear blue digi, I tested again this morning with the same kind of test to check if my hormones were rising and they are, it had gone from preg 1-2 to preg 2-3. Is that a good sign or still inconclusive?

Hi Mrs G-L,

Whispered congratulations. I think this has been answered successfully on the other board but if not, please don’t hesitate to ask anything else.

Much live,
