I had an ectopic pregnancy in February this year. Covid restrictions were still in place so I found out I was pregnant, that it was ectopic and had ruptured in a matter of hours while on my own and in incredible pain. I signed some forms then got rushed to surgery. While I was waiting to go into theatre, laid in the little side room, someone brought in another form for me to sign and I recall it being something to do with what happens to the foetus/tube/mass after removal. I think I signed for the hospital to deal with it but I can’t be sure. Is there a way of finding this out? And also finding out what that involves a bit more?
I was left with a lot of unknowns, as I’m sure most people here were, and this is one of questions that goes round my head pretty frequently.
Thanks for any advice x
Dear Whirlwind,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Hospitals have differing policies around sensitive remains so I can’t generally comment on yours. You can certainly speak to the Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) within your hospital who would be able to let you know the policy of look in your notes to find out for you. The hospital chaplains may also be of help too.
Sending much love,
Karen x
