how many of you had an ectopic straight after going off PILL

Hi ya

I have had an ectopic in October. It followed me going off the pill.

The doctor’s advice was to wait three months after the pill before ttc but i have ignored it.

I know of at least one other lady who had an ectopic after giving up the pill and was wondering how common this problem is.

You need to be aware that there is more than one type of formulation of contraceptive pill. One is a combined oral contraceptive pill, the other a progesterone only contraceptive pill - both have their place but there is an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy with the progesterone only variety
You should avoid becoming pregnant for at least 3 months after you stop taking the progesterone only pill
But you do not have to exercise the same caution with the combined contraceptive pill

happened me, i wasnt told to wait to ttc though. i didnt get my af and just thought maybe it was cos i came off the pill that i was out of sync, turned out it was cos i was preg with my ep baby.

i would not know about different kinds of pill - i was on Cilest myself

to the 1st comment - i was just like you, thought the period is late because of the pill but was already pregnant with my ep baby.

i just think this is more common than people realise and should be made more clear to woman that ttc after the pill can have such effects

i was on the combined pill, as was a friend of mine who i introduced to this site (not naming names!) but she waited for a month before ttc and still had an ep. i think maybe some of us just are unlucky that it happens like this then end up going on to blame the pill for causing this but like the mod said its the mini pill that you have to wait 3 mths after coming off and as i wasnt on it just before my ep i dont blame the pill

true - we end up looking to put the blame on something - i do not deny that

however, there seems to be a lot of people who ended up with ectopic straight after the pill - just looks like a possibility that it can have something to do with it

Hi i had my EP straight after coming off the combined pill too. I too was on Cilest and so were couple of friends on here.

I came of the combined pill Microgynon30 in September 2008. Started trying for a baby straight away. Got pregnant in Jan '09 and was diagnosed with EP 13th Feb '09. First time pregnant - not a great start. Hope its the first and last! Having methotrexate treatment so have to wait till May to try again :frowning: x

I had been off the pill for 5 years when I had my EP. I had been TTC for 13 months.

just of my microgynon pill 2 months had ep and lost my left tube

i came off the pill and within that same month was pg with ectopic,losing my left tube.thought i was late also as my body was adjusting x

I too had EP 1st pregnancy off pill was on Microgynon 30 for 12 years, came off 24th Jan pregnant 24th feb

Definitely think there is something in this, even though doctors say there isn’t, it’s happened to too many women

With both my girls I came off the pill and was pregnant within weeks, both thankfully healthy pregnancies,

That was nearly 20 years ago and I wasn’t advised to wait

My daughter had come off the implant ( not and not advised to wait ) two months later suffered her ectopic,

Yes, in answering you question. Had implant out early Sep stopped combined pill end Sep (was using two methods of contraception) One withdrawal bleed one AF and boom!!!

I did literally found out I was pregnant within a month of coming off the pill I was on marvelon but within a week of having a positive test my tube ruptured

We got pregnant on my first period after taking out the nuva ring and ended with a etopic pregnancy

Me. I was on microgynon and got caught within 2 weeks of coming off it then suffered an ectopic and had left tube removed! Seems there are a few of us?!
