Hi everyone. New to site

Just wanted to say hi  Had ectopic pregnancy on 1st May 2013 and had my right tube removed :frowning:

We have a beautiful daughter who will be 2 in July and we are TTC again. Been trying since Feb and we haven’t been lucky yet. Feeling quite frustrated with it all, conceived our daughter after 4 weeks of trying so we had hoped it would be the same again.

How long did/has it taken you? Xx

Hi,

Sorry to hear you had an ectopic and are frustrated wth the ttc process. You are not alone! There are lots of ladies who are ttc after an ep, and the amount of time it takes ranges greatly. Some conceive straight away, but for others it can take a little longer. I think if you only have one tube, it may only take slightly longer to conceive then if you had both tubes. Or it might make no difference at all, can’t remember what I have read.

The fact you fell straight away with your daughter is promising! I think as loans you’re having regular unprotected sex you will be in with a great chance.

I fell straight away with my ectopic, and have now been trying since April. I have actually only ovulated once since then, though, which has obviously limited my chances.

I don’t have any magic advice for you, but wanted to say hello and that you are not alone!! Xx

Aww thanks for the reply. Feel a bit better knowing there is other women out there going through the same. My consultant at the time of ep said I had 30% less fertility but I looked at as I still have 70% up until recently. Think I’m focusing too much on the 30% now. Sounds silly really.

Dear Mrs R11

I’m so sorry to hear you have had an ectopic pregnancy. Please use these forums to share any concerns or to ask any questions.

Although it can feel frustrating waiting to conceive, please be reassured that even with perfect (if there is such a thing) fertility it takes most couples longer than 4 weeks of trying to conceive so you were very lucky with your daughter. I think you have been right to focus on the positive side of the 70% before, although of course it is natural to gravitate towards thinking about it as the 30% - we all have. The good news is that statistically, the chances of having a future successful pregnancy are very good and 65% of women are healthily pregnant within 18 months of an ectopic pregnancy. Some studies suggest this figure rises to around 85% over 2 years. Although this may feel like a long time at the moment, it isn’t a great reduction in what your fertility would probably have been before the ectopic.

I hope this helps a little.
