Hi there! I am in the process of being treated for an ectopic pregnancy and it has taken a lot of my thoughts recently. I was just thinking back over the last 10 weeks and have been thinking about my symptoms. I had pregnancy symptoms, mostly extremely tender and engorged breasts, and some ying yang emotions, then I had my “period”. The symptoms continued through that week and slightly after, but then slowly went away. My HCG levels, however, kept on rising (slowly). By the time the pregnancy was diagnosed as ectopic, which was at 8 weeks pregnant, my pregnancy symptoms were completely gone.
Does anyone know why pregnency symptoms often go away during an ectopic but even though your HCG levels continue to rise?
Dear Doubell,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,
This is a little difficult to answer as we all experience pregnancy symptoms differently and some people don’t experience any at all.
I would suggest that your symptoms settled as although your hCG levels were rising, they sadly were not doubling and rising as expected so your body was not being affected by it as much.
Sending much love,
Karen x
