I had an ectopic pregnancy on January 8th, 2016. It was a complete shock to me because I had the Mirena IUD in place and had no idea I was pregnant. I was 7 weeks along and the baby had a heart beat. I lost my left Fallopian tube and told me if I didn’t go to the hospital when I did I may not have made it. I am very grateful to be alive because I have two beautiful children. But it breaks my heart. We have been trying to get pregnant since we got that okay to do so from the doctor. Now the doctor told me that my other Fallopian tube has scar tissue. I have done some research and I have seen that scar tissue is a main concern because it can cause ectopic pregnancy and may decrease your chance of even getting pregnant. So I guess my question is has anyone ever had a problem with getting pregnant with scar tissue being in the only Fallopian tube they have left? Or even had difficulties getting pregnant after losing their tube? Thank you!
Hi there,
I’m afraid I don’t have much to add nut will wait with you for some feedback on this. I had right tubal removal also early January.
We have had two cycles of trying with no luck since. The surgeon said that my remaining tube looked to be ok but it took us nearly a year to fall in the first place so my hope for it happening this time is not high.
Have you had a scan since or is the scarring what they picked up on in surgery?
Thank you so much for replying. The doctor told me it could take up to a year for me to even get pregnant. The scaring is what they picked up on during surgery. I talked to nurse assistant in the office and she told me I should wait another 3 months and if nothing happens then to call the doctors office and schedule an appointment with one of the fertility doctors, Crossing my fingers!!
It’s so hard isn’t it but I think knowing what your options are, what help there is and when you can access it is good for keeping positive. We are now on third cycle of trying post ectopic. Trying very hard not to let it consume me too much but it’s hard not to.
