I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,
Yes, this can be very normal for your first period. The first period following ectopic pregnancy may be more painful or less so than usual, heavier or lighter, last for longer or shorter than usual – there really is no set pattern. You should be able to manage the discomfort with over-the-counter pain relief and should not be soaking a pad in less than an hour. If this is not the case, you should seek medical attention.

From what I understand the reason a period post pregnancy loss can be heavy is the body had been preparing to sustain a pregnancy so the lining is a lot more thicker, when there’s a loss the body needs to shed it.

I had surgery to remove my ectopic pregnancy and right fallopian tube 5 weeks ago I’ve finally got my period.
It’s a lot heavier and I’m getting a lot more cramping than I normally would but I’ve read that’s normal.
I’ve also noticed huge clots passing with this period and I’m just wondering if this is normal?
