Ectopic and missed miscarriage

Hi everyone, I don’t know how i ended up here but I needed to talk to people who have gone through the same situation as me. I got an ectopic pregnancy November 2018 and lost my left fallopian tube, I didn’t get most symptoms of ectopic until when one evening I got intensive cramps and started spotting. I had just found out I was pregnant at about 7/3wks, I rushed to hospital the following morning worried of a miscarriage but when the Dr did a scan it was an ectopic in left tube and it had started leaking but not yet ruptured. Surgery was done the next day. In February 2019 I had a missed period and tested for pregnancy which was positive, I was confused and anxious. I called my Dr who advised me to wait till 6wks for a scan but was monitoring my HCG levels and they were doubling and a good sign. At 6/3wks had my scan and baby was in the uterus which made me happy and calm, I started enjoying my pregnancy while waiting for my next appointment at 12wks. I started getting mild cramps at 11/1wks which intensified and I called my Dr who also called me in for another scan since my appointment was in 5days. When I reached hospital he sent me straight to scan and when it was taken the fetus measured 8/3wks. It had stopped growing at 8/3wks and I was 11/1wks. Am so heart broken after an ectopic then followed by a missed miscarriage… Am in denial

Dear Dianah,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and losses. To experience one loss is difficult, dealing with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.

It is so hard when we allow ourselves a glimmer of hope too. There is absolutely nothing you could have done to prevent either loss, you are not to blame in anyway. Please be kind to yourself and allow time to heal both physically and emotionally.

We will be here for you for as long as you need and if you feel you need someone to talk to, we at the Trust believe that talking through what happened and your emotions as and when you can helps the healing process. We operate a helpline service and there’s no pressure whatsoever but if you would ever like the opportunity to speak over the phone to someone who has been through a similar experience, do feel free to call, details are below. We can take things at your pace entirely and you are free to ask any questions that are on your mind. You can talk about the ordeal you have been through and express your feelings to vent and let off some steam. We can exchange emails too, if you prefer that route. We’ll simply be here for you, however you wish and for as long as you wish.

Sending much love and gentle hugs,

Karen x
