Clear blue digital tests

Hi All

Last year I had surgery lost left tube.

I missed period this month, tested using clear blue digital - positive.

Went to NHS urgent care as I had slight pain and dark brown discharge. The test was negative, doctor refused to send me for an early pregnancy scan as the test was negative. I explained I’m worried… as I had to have surgery last year …

Next day, cramping and bleeding, positive test clear blue digital again in morning.

In the evening went to the hospital, again the hospital test was negative.

Bleed all day and had cramps - felt like a miscarriage …

Doc said I need a blood test have to go to the GP… no appointments available for the next few days… difficult to take time off work…

just hope it’s not another ecoptic …

Are clear blue digital tests not reliable ? Are the hospital tests reliable …

Thank you.

Hi Sonia,

I’m so sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy and loss, and very sorry you are going through such a worrying time. With your previous ectopic and surgery, you can self-refer to your nearest EPU for an early scan. You do not need to wait for a GP referral. Especially with the conflicting pregnancy tests, with some indicating positive and negative, it is important to continue to monitor your symptoms and to be seen with the occurrence of any new or severe symptoms. Sadly, many early pregnancies do end in miscarriage, but I’d encourage you to reach out to the EPU for follow-up care and peace of mind.

With good wishes,

Michele

Thank you so much!

I will do this soon as I can.

Thank you

Hi Michele,

When I replied to your message I was going to the GP. The locum Doctor was so good, she referred me for a scan - Monday. She couldn’t believe that the doctor at the Urgent care did not refer me… I was in so much pain.

I did have an early miscarriage. The scan was done at a different hospital and I was so glad, the doctor listened and I didn’t feel brushed off.

Just want to know how do I find out which hospital I can refer myself to for next time. I’m hoping I will be third time lucky … thank you.

I’m so glad we have this website to share our experience.

Hi Sonia,

I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It is a very difficult experience to go through, but I’m glad you were finally listened to and referred for a scan.

I don’t know your location in the UK, but you should be able to find maternity services in your area from this link: https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/Mater … earch/1802. You may also Google “early pregnancy unit” and your area to see which hospitals have the units. Then you can contact them directly.

Take good care of yourself, and know we are here for you anytime.

With good wishes,

Michele

Thank Michele I live in west London ealing borough. Thank you for your help.

Just have one more question, sorry… do I continue to take folic acid for three months first and then try … thank you.

I too live in West London and when I went through my ectopic struggled to find a hospital that would see me. If you do have an emergency on the weekend ( which I did) NO HOSPITALS IN THE BOUROUGH will give you a scan. I had to travel out of the area in BAD Pain to a hospital in Watford Hertforshire. They offered a scan straighy away then taken to theatre. So disappointed with the NHS SERVICE I recieved. Most hospitals in the are want you to be refered but GPs are not always willing to do so or listen to you. Just happy that my next pregnancy will be monitored and hoping I will be listened to if not I will have to go back to Watford.

Hi Sonia,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your last question. Yes, it is recommended to begin folic acid 12 weeks before trying to conceive. This is recommended for all women trying to conceive.

With good wishes,

Michele

Thank you Michele.

I felt so frustrated at the service I received…so I understand you must have felt it’s sad really…

When they found that I had an ecoptic pregnancy I was taken into hospital but I wasn’t in pain… one of the doctors came to see me she said why are you here your not in any pain so it’s not an emergency … I didn’t know what to say … Luckily the doctor at another hospital sent me for surgery …

I was 7 weeks and a half pregnant … as I wasn’t urinating properly after the surgery and was still in pain the nurse advised me not to feel pressurised to be discharged… she told me the doctor said this is not a hotel for her to stay another day… as if I wanted to be there …

I do believe there are some great doctors … sometimes we just get a little unlucky… xx good luck for next time stay positive
