Confused after pregnancy tests

Hi all,

In September my first pregnancy ended with a ruptured ectopic, I had emergency surgery, ended up in intensive care and lost my left tube. I had no signs anything was wrong before the pain started when my tube ruptured.

We’ve started trying to conceive again and my period was due on Tuesday, I took a test and got a positive. But today I took another and got a negative. I’ve not had any bleeding or spotting, but have had similar niggles in my lower abdomen as the last time I was pregnant. And now I’m confused! I know the likelihood is that I’m not pregnant but I can’t help worrying. I tried to get a GP appointment but they’re all gone for today.

Has anyone had similar? Am I just worrying about nothing? Should I just see what happens over the weekend and test again or see GP Monday?

Thank you in advance for any advice Xx

Hi Taylor07,

Sending a whispered congratulations your way and hoping for the very best. I know what a worrying time this can be. As you’ve had a previous ectopic, you are also able to contact the EPU directly to schedule an early scan (typically around the six week mark) as you are concerned.

However, it is also very important to listen to your concerns and look after yourself. It’s important to monitor for any symptoms. You may consider speaking to the EPU, your GP or another GP regarding having a urine or blood test.

With good wishes,

Michele
