Chances of a third ectopic?

Does anyone know what the chances of third ectopic are? I know it’s 1/10 after 1 but what about after 2? Same tube 1 managed with methotrexate and second managed expectantly.

Thanks

Dear Amx,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies and losses. To experience one loss is difficult, to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.

We do not have specific information on chances of a 3rd ectopic pregnancy as fortunately this isn’t common. Due to this there is very little up to date research and in fact I only read about clinicians documenting about specific cases rather than finding any up to date studies that collate all the data. I’m sorry I cannot give you this specific information.

What I would say is to ensure have your early pregnancy scan at around 6 weeks with any subsequent pregnancies.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Hi

My doctor advised 25% chance of a 3rd ectopic after two. I had 1 ectopic is March which was managed surgically with tube removed and then I had a second ectopic in June which was managed with methotrexate. I have no risk factors and have all my hormones levels checked and had a HSG test to check my remaining tube which was clear

Hope this helps I am in the UK
