Hi im looking for some advice as im really confused. I had a ectopic in 2010 resulting in a right tube removal. After ttc for another year i was referred for a hsg which showed my left tube is partially blocked. On my notes it says the dye slowly went down my tube but was no spillage and my tube had a abnormal outline. I was then told ivf is my only option. As far as my gyno says i have no liquid in my tube (forgot the appropriate word) ive asked my gyno where is the blockage? What caused it? Etc she has no idea and now doesn’t answer my calls. What id like to know is can the liquid appear after time? And would a tube removal be needed before ivf? I want to give ivf the best possible chance of working. Also as im paying for ivf is there any tests i can have on the nhs by my gp? Please help. Is there anyone who has been in a simlar situation or anyone who knows anything about a blocked tube and had ivf .Thanks in advance x
hi there, i’m not sure about the liquid in your tube question. I had EPs in both tubes a couple of years apart, I had my right tube removed and the left tube was surgically repaired. After a couple more years of TTC i went and had the HSG done and had a similar diagnosis to yourself. I went ahead and did IVF and did not need to have the tube removed, it was never discussed as a possibility. You would probably first have to talk to your clinic about whether they would accept results from your GP or prefer to do any tests themselves. We paid for our treatment but it was at NHS clinic. we just had to fund the cycle ourselves. We were able to get the GP to do our HIV and hepatitis tests which saved us some money, although we were doing them with GP for more of a timing issue to do with my husband working abroad more than anything. Do make sure you have your smear tests up to date, the results can take a little while to come through and most clinics will want to see you have a clear smear test recently, although my clinic were happy to go ahead with a “minor changes” result, some are not. Your GP might be willing to arrange your mans sperm analysis, but really you need to chat to your clinic about what they will accept and won’t as places differ from what I understand.
