Bit of a rant - start of IVF journey

I need to get something off my chest more then anything I think and would like to know how the journey was at the beginning for anyone else

I have had 4 ectopics - both tubes removed 0 children

After my last Salpingectomy and ectopic in August I was encouraged by the consultant to start the IVF ball rolling straight away with my GP I did this at the start of Septemeber. Since then it feels like has been one big headache of mess ups!

-We made the original appointment for the referral went sat down went through a few bits made appointment for my bloods

-Husband needed to go do a sample closest place this can be done is over an hour away - by appointment on a 2 week rolling basis appointments are released at midnight. Took a while to get one in the first place, went and did his bit over a month ago. Heard nothing back about the results so he phoned the doctors - yes everything came back normal and fine. They have just phoned up about 2 weeks after been told everything was fine to be told he has to go and do it again!!!

3 weeks later went and did my bloods nurse was very confused as doctor had asked for 7 vials of blood! But she took them all doctor had also put down for swabs - nothing had been said to me about those and the nurse my appointment had been made with couldn’t do them. Had to wait another 2 weeks for an appointment for swabs.

Phone call from them I need to make another appointment to speak to the doctor as she missed something off from the referral another 3 week wait for a phone call.

Bloods come back as unusable - another appointment needed to redo them

Go for another blood appointment - told most of my bloods came back ok but need to redo full blood count - 1 vial of blood done

  • told 2 should have been retested not one now got to wait until 23d Dec for another blood test.

Dear Viain,

I am so sorry to hear of the frustrating time you are going through.

If you have to have bloods again, is there a local community hub you can take the form too? It maybe worth asking your surgery if there is anywhere else you can go to have bloods that may have a shorter waiting list time.

I hope you start to get further forward once you have your results.

Sending much love and keeping everything crossed for a smooth road ahead,

Karen x
