Hi everyone,
I had emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy on Sunday 27 August (it was keyhole). I didn’t know it at the time but I was later diagnosed via swabs with a pelvic infection too.
Since the second day in hospital I’ve woken up with really bad, throbbing back ache (top and bottom). I don’t think it’s the gas because I still have it over two weeks later and it’s the worst when I first wake up (and I’m unusually lying mostly just in my back to sleep whilst I heal which is unusual for me).
I’m a frequent gym and yoga goer and it feels as though my muscles are screaming at me to exercise but I’m finding advice on exercise so contradictory and can’t really afford to see a physio right now (one GP said 6-12 weeks but didn’t explain what level of exercise).
Did anyone else experience this? I don’t want to do anything that will affect my recovery but this new cause of pain is so frustrating
.
Thanks in advance x
Dear Bonnie,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss and continued discomfort.
Unfortunately I am not able to provide personalised medical advice so would advise speaking to your doctors again for clarity on your symptoms and what they advised.
With regards to exercise you can certainly start, but I would advise taking things slowly and building up as your body allows.
I am sorry I cannot be more specific, but I would advise speaking to your doctors.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Thank you so much for the sympathy and the advice Karen
. I do think I need to rest - I’ve been up and about so much I’ve started getting some stabbing pains around one of the stitches (although part of me is thinking it might be my first period returning
). It’s all so confusing for us and our bodies isn’t it
.
Thank you again x
