4th Ectopic

I’ve just suffered my 4th ectopic pregnancy I had surgery a week and a half ago, they had to remove the only tube I had left so have no chance of conceiving now. I’m still in so much pain after the operation, I didn’t get this much pain after my first tube was removed. I can’t start to heal emotionally until I can get this pain under control if I will ever be able to heal emotionally which is not looking likely at the moment. I just wondered if anyone else was still in so much pain a week and a half after the operation?

Hi Zoobers,

I am extremely sorry for what u have been through and your loses.

I had ep and right tube removed on the 5th feb and I had the pain for so long after nearly two weeks I went back to the hospital as I couldn’t even walk sit or stand up straight. I was told to rest and listen to my body. It was only after theee weeks I started feeling okayish. Even now if I do too much I feel sharp pain here and there on the right side. Just take it easy and give urself time to heal. Take care xx

Dear Zoobers_40,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies and losses. To experience one loss is difficult to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.

It is still very early days since your surgery and pain is quite common at this stage. The problem with pain is that it is very subjective so I wouldn’t compare your levels of pain to others or even to you previous ectopics.

I would advise taking regular pain relief as prescribed and if you feel these are not helping talk to your GP about the possibility of stronger or different pain relief.

Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, if you find that you have an increased body temperature of more than 37°C or offensive smelling discharge or the wound site starts oozing or feels hot to touch, please do get medical attention as soon as possible as these can be signs of infection.

Do be kind to yourself and allow time to heal both physically and emotionally.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Thank you both for your replies. One of my wounds is infected, I have seen the doctor and been given antibiotics.

I am feeling a little better physically now, but am still very broken emotionally, I think it is going to take me a very long time to start feeling better. Xx

Hi Zoobers_40. I’m really sorry you’ve been through this. I’ve had 3 ectopics and a miscarriage so I have an understanding of what you’re going through. It’s so tough and no-one says the right thing they just want to be positive but get it wrong. Really you just want them to say it’s shit. You know it’s shit. Take your time to deal with it the only way you know how.

I’m just pregnant again now after not being able to try from the methotrexate. I’m really worried and feeling negative about it all as adamant it’s another ectopic. My lines are really faint. I’ve got one tube left. My last ectopic was October…unbelievably in what was the remainder of my right tube that was only partially removed during my first ectopic. I hope you get the support you need and wish you all the luck xxxx
