I am 2 weeks post surgery, still heart broken with heightened anxiety. I had my right tube removed with very little aftercare advice… Very anxious to talk to doctors as they ignored me when I told them about my symptoms the first time round resulting in them catching my ectopic very late.
I have occasional twinges/cramps on my left side (even though it was my right that was removed) wondered if I should be concerned… I just have nightmares that they have damaged my other tube or even taken the wrong one out… But I may just be overreacting… The pain is bearable, just very odd
I’m so very sorry to hear that you’ve suffered an ectopic pregnancy and loss. My heart aches for you and I know how many questions the experience can leave us with. I will do my very best to help.
Many women experience discomfort after experiencing ectopic pregnancy and it can be a scary time. The pain could be for a number of reasons. It could be due to adhesions or scar tissue that form as part of your recovery. It could be as a result of ovulation pains (many women feel this when they hadn’t before including myself). It may also be heightened awareness after everything you have endured.
You could keep a pain diary, noting when the pain starts, when and where you experience pain and the intensity. You could also write down anything that helps the pain including paracetamol, rest, hot water bottle etc and you could discuss your notes with your doctors. These details would help them determine how best manage your symptoms.
Your surgery was so recent and it’s so very, very important to give yourself time to heal physically and emotionally. There is no set time frame for our recovery. Some days are good; some days less so. Over time, things become a bit more normal. These boards are full of people who, unfortunately, share in this experience, and we are here for you. As well, the Trust operates a hotline if you want to speak to someone about your experience. The contact information is in my signature.
Please know we are here for you for as long as you need.
With good wishes,
Michele

I hope you are doing ok I’m sorry you are worrying about this, I was also very concerned about this as it didn’t make sense to me.
I went to the doctors and I asked about why I was feeling more pain in the opposite side as I was sure I had or the surgeons had damaged my remaining tube. Firstly my doctor was able to access the medical record on his computer that the hospital surgeons had made to double check which side was removed, The tube was removed from my left but pain and discomfort in the right? My doctor explained that the surgeons probably accessed and took the tube away via the right side, as the scar/incision was also slightly larger and it was less neat than the other one, It also got a little infected and was generally more problematic than the side of the effected tube. They had probably done most of the work via the good side. I also had twinges and pulling sensations that the dr explained were lesions forming. They did settle over time. I hope my reply has helped ease your mind a little as at the moment all your energy is best saved to heal yourself and rest,
Thank you both for your support, Im starting to feel a little bit of cramping on both sides now, and I feel it’s probably my period coming soon, but feel better reading the replies,
@Hayley1 I think you are also probably right about the removal being from the opposite side as my incsion is noticeably larger (I didn’t even think about it until you said)
Did my post op pregnancy test today (to check hormone levels) , which I thought would be fine and felt routine, but seeing those words ‘not pregnant’ has just completely set me off today… Back to work on Wednesday and hoping routine will get me back on track
