I had an exctopic pregnancy, I found out on March 15th and had to have emergency surgery to remove the Fallopian tube the baby was developing in.
However I what confuses me is that o went in with moderate pain on my LEFT side, after ultrasound scan they still could not confirm where the baby was. A day after surgery I had a surgeon come in and explain what had happened during the procedure. He explained he had taken them RIGHT Fallopian tube away.
However on my paperwork I was given from the hospital it says it was removable of LEFT Fallopian tube due to rupture.
Ive had my first period since, and I felt ok physically. But now I’m having pains on my right side?
Anyone able to shed any light on this?! So confused
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss.
Sadly without access to your medical notes, I cannot comment on the circumstances surrounding your surgery and information you were given.
Your GP should have a discharge summary from your procedure so should be able to tell you more. If you have any further concerns about discrepancies in information given, you can always contact the Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) at your hospital who should be able to look into this further for you.
Regarding pain, it is normal to experience some pain after ectopic pregnancy as your body has been through a great ordeal. The pain could be due to adhesions or scar tissue which formed as part of your healing or it could also be due to heightened awareness because of your sad loss. As it is on the opposite side, you may also be feeling ovulation pain (many women including myself never felt ovulation pain before the ectopic pregnancy and experience these sensations after). I think it may be worth keeping a pain diary to record when you feel the pain (including when in your cycle), its intensity on a scale of 1-10 and if anything helps such as rest, a hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. I would suggest keeping these notes for about 4/6 weeks and then seeing your doctors with this information as it would help them determine how best to manage your symptoms.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Really sorry for your loss and all you’ve been through.
I just wanted to say that I also went to the a&e because I had light bleeding mainly coupled with mild to moderate pain on my Right side. After monitoring me for a week and a couple of scans they have identified the pregnancy on the Left. I was surprised but apparently the tubes are mobile and can cause pain on the different side.
Anyway, during surgery they blow air and are able to see exactly where it is, more precisely than on a scan. So rest assured they did operate on the correct tube.
I have also heard of more intense ovulation pain after ectopic so maybe could be that for you.
