I was just over 5 weeks pregnant when I had horrendous pain and ended up in surgery where my right fallopian tube was removed (no rupture).
Two weeks later and I’ve been having some new pain around my left side incision, below ribs and my side. Also lower abdomen both sides - all dull aches and then more painful mostly when I move. Plus my right thigh has a warm, tingly, numb sensation every now and then when I’m laying down.
I’m seeing my GP later today but has anyone experienced anything similar?
Feeling pretty fed up and emotional thinking about everything that’s happened
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,
Unfortunately I think these symptoms require medical review and I am glad you have had an appointment. I hope you have some answers.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Hey, sorry to hear about your loss it’s horrid and traumatic isn’t it and send you massive well wishes.
I just wanted to write to let you know I had similar symptoms around two weeks after my surgery and the nurse thought it could have been an infection internally and I was given a course of antibiotics. If you aren’t happy with what the doctor has said I would see another and query whether it could be an infection and can you try antibiotics. The recovery is painful enough xx
Thank you so much for your reply and sharing that you had similar symptoms. And sorry to hear you’ve been through it all as well - it really is awful. Hope you’re doing better now.
I started having more severe pain whenever I move a few days ago so had another GP visit and referral to the hospital. A scan, various tests and still no idea. Told not a UTI, infection and things look ok so have to wait it out.
I’m really struggling with how traumatic and upsetting it’s been, particularly going back to the hospital and still feeling unwell. So am looking at arranging counselling.
I’m so sorry for what you are going through. I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2021 with my left tube being removed. I just came on here to say after the surgery I had ongoing pains for a while afterwards, I went private and saw a gynaecologist & gastroenterologist, they couldn’t find anything sinister and I was diagnosed with PTSD, they said a lot of my symptoms seemed to have been nerve pain and that I was over sensitised after all the trauma. It took a bit of time but when the symptoms of my PTSD settled I found the physical pain did to. Just wanted to leave you a note to say that things do eventually get better, I remember thinking at the time it never would. Sending lots of love x
@_SBKM thank you for your reply and so sorry for everything you went through. I’m glad you got the help you needed. Do you mind me asking if you did anything to help the PTSD settle?
I tend to overthink everything and it was a very traumatic experience, but understand it’s never going to be a quick fix. I have a counselling assessment tomorrow - dreading it but hopefully it’ll help talking things through.
Since my post, I’m now on antibiotics due to infection (great!) but am in less pain. Fingers crossed physically on the mend.
I couldn’t find your post earlier I wanted to check to see how you were doing. Hope you are feeling much better once antibiotics kick in (physically) I’m surprised they didn’t offer them earlier
I wondered about PTSD I see a psychotherapist twice a week I’m wondering whether there is a certain kind of therapy for PTSD or not?
SBKM - interesting to hear pain subsided after some help mentally, feels like this mental healing will take some time.
LTQKVS - That’s really sweet of you to check how I’m doing Still have discomfort, avoiding bending too much and a weird tingly/numb leg but starting to feel better now the antibiotics are finished.
Good question about if there is specific PTSD therapy. I know there are different types.
Hope your sessions are helping and you’re managing to get the support you need. x
In answer to your questions, yes there are specific therapies targeted for PTSD symptoms. I would advise speaking to your local counselling services or doctors to discuss referral for these.
Sending much love,
Karen x
