Worried about another ectopic

Hi all,

I had my right fallopian tube removed in Sept 2018 due to ectopic at 7 weeks. The highest my hcg levels reached was 1200.

I got my bfp very early this month (4 days before af was due). After experiencing mild discomfort I went to epu for bloods hcg has more than doubled every 48h and had scan yesterday at just under 5 weeks with hcg of 1113 where the sonographer couldn’t see anything. I am due to go back tomorrow for another scan. Although my levels have risen normally this time unlike with the ectopic I am worried that they couldn’t see anything on us with hcg levels of 1113. I starting to panic as I really don’t want to loose my right tube and reassurance or advice would be extremely appreciated. TIA.

Dear Grace29,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

I very much understand the worry you are going through. In the UK, the first scan is usually carried out at around 6 weeks as by this point there is a reasonable chance of seeing the embryo, so it is very possible that it is just too early to see.

I had a scan at around 5 weeks as I was suffering from abdominal pain (forgive me, but I do not recall what my hCG was at this point as it was 7 years ago). I was told at this scan that there was nothing to see and I had to wait a whole week for a repeat scan. At the repeat scan, there was a tiny heartbeat, in the correct place.

I know, it really is the longest wait, but it is reassuring that your hCG levels are doubling as expected and I hope my experience gives you some hope.

Sending much love and positive thoughts, I will be thinking of you tomorrow,

Karen x

Thank you Karen. I have just had a trans abdominal scan which showed just a sac, the sonographer said that in a few days we should be able to see the yolk. Fingers crossed all goes well. I am still quite nervous, it was so small it could have been anything.

Dear Grace29,

Thank you for keeping us updated, this all sounds very reassuring, and I presume you have as further scan booked? I continue to send our love and positive thoughts.

I lost my right tube in August 2017. I then conceived using my left tube in June 2018. I gave birth to a baby girl 17th Feb 2019. I never thought I would get pregnant again. But it is possible so please do not give up hope.
