TTC for 1 year post ectopic

It’s been 1 year since I fell pregnant with my previous ectopic and 10 months since surgery to remove my left Fallopian tube.

I’ve had 1 chemical pregnancy in May and no sign of pregnancy since.

So deflated every month when my period comes. Last month it was late by 4 days and then my period came which was so frustrating getting my hopes up :frowning:

I have a 2 1/2 year old already so don’t think the NHS will see me for problems with TTC.

Just sad and exhausted.

Hi Lovely,

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this time. It’s very natural to feel anxious about ttc after an ectopic pregnancy. Anxious over what might happen and what might not. It’s difficult to wait each month to see if you are pregnant, and I know that waiting and expectation can take their toll.

There are so many factors that contribute to becoming pregnant. It may provide some comfort to know that it is usually possible to conceive successfully after having an ectopic pregnancy, though the time it generally takes varies considerably from couple to couple. Approximately 65 percent of women are healthily pregnant within 18 months of ectopic pregnancy and some studies show this rises to around 85 percent after two years.

Please know we are here for you on this journey, for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele

Sorry to hear that, it’s hard when things take a long time and really awful after an ectopic.

I believe that most people who don’t conceive within a year will conceive within the next year without assistance. Sometimes the delay is just statistical bad luck. I know that doesn’t make it any easier.

But are you able to seek private treatment at all? If it is affordable that might be worthwhile. At least you could get some more information on your cycle (hormone levels, follicle size) and perhaps your partner’s sperm, etc.
