Morning everyone
I had a right sided tube rupture and removal in July and we’ve just started TTC again. 7DPO at the mo and we’ve booked a week off when it’d be 16DPO this month, it’s hard finding time when we’re not working! We wanted to fly somewhere warm but I’m so worried about whether flying would affect implantation/an embryo and the risk of ectopic again
it’d be incredible if we conceived so quickly but know it’s not realistic either.
I know there’s no known risk to a foetus with flying, but also know if it’s a possible ectopic we’re not meant to fly. Has anyone had the same dilemma and was it best to not fly? Maybe it’s worth waiting until we successfully conceive and go in second trimester but then we’re putting our lives on hold and it might not happen…Think my anxiety’s taking over a bit with this one but we just want to be careful!
Thanks all and thank you so much to EPT for all your support and help x
Dear Emily,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,
As you have rightly said, flying has not been shown to be a cause of ectopic pregnancy.
We would obviously advise not to fly whilst being investigated or treated for ectopic pregnancy, but there would be no other restrictions and I guess ultimately the choice would be yours with how comfortable you feel flying. Sadly it can take some couples up to two years to conceive following ectopic pregnancy, and whilst we obviously wish and hope you conceive much sooner than this, you could potentially be putting your life on hold for some time.
I would advise discussing your concerns with a partner and making a decision you both feel comfortable with.
Sending much love,
Karen x
