I am sorry for bombarding this forum with my questions.
I found out that I was pregnant. But that was after I booked flights to see my family in Canada for a month. This was planned well before the pregnancy.
I’ve been reading about flying when pregnant. There is no risk for yourself or the baby except for an increased risk of DVT for long haul flights (and this will be). The RCOG says that the safe time to travel is during the second trimester.
On other website (unsure about the quality of the source) there was also a chapter that said that for anyone who had a previous ectopic should not travel. I don’t understand why as if it is confirmed not ectopic, shouldn’t it be fine?
Has anyone travelled during their first trimester on a long haul flight (about 7 hours)?
I cannot think why there would be a reason for you not to fly because of previous ectopic pregnancy. I could understand if it was recent and you were still having treatment or in the early stages of recovery but you clearly are neither of these.
With regards to long haul flights and pregnancy I would strongly suggest speaking to your midwife in the first instance. They have your medical notes so will be able to give you personally tailored and up to date advice about long haul travel. I would also strongly suggest travel insurance.
Sending much love,

Thank you for your response Karen. I tried to speak with EPU but they said they won’t do any bloods until the 6 weeks scan. I will try and speak with my GP tomorrow and see if s/he could do some tests until my scan, just so I kind of prepare myself. Also, I have been having weird cramps/pulling sensations on the ectopic side as well as twinges and needle like pain where my ectopic pain used to be. It’s been really scary but I am trying to reassure myself. I will tell my GP and see what happens. And I will also call my travel insurance just to make sure I will be covered.
Thank for clarifying. I will for sure make sure of the placement of the pregnancy. I am thinking of delaying my flight by a week in case they are not able to see anything next week. I will be 6 weeks on the appointment from the day of my last period. But because my cycles are longer than 28, it will actually be 5weeks 1 day I think. So I am not sure if they will see anything and might want to see me again the following week. I will definitely make sure that the OB is happy for me to fly before I plan anything.
