Tracking after EP to avoid bad side...is it necessary?

Hi all,

I suffered an ectopic pregnancy recently, had the mtx shot 5 weeks ago. I saw my fertility specialist who believes this happened because I was taking Provera which slowed down the egg and caused it to implant in my right fallopian tube. My gp put me on Provera as it has been 6 weeks since a D & C after a missed miscarriage and I still hadn’t had a period. Anyway, my specialist has recommended I do tracking so we can avoid trying on the months I ovulate from this side. Is this necessary? I don’t really want to halve my chances, especially since I have PCOS so I 'have lengthy cycles.

Thanks for any advice.

Dear kate_84,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss.

Unfortunately I am not medically trained and have no experience with this medication so cannot give you specific information on your question. I would suggest following the advice of your specialist and if you have any questions about your medication, I would again advise speaking to your specialist Dr. If it is difficult to get to talk to your specialist or get an appointment, I would advise talking to the secretary of your specialist who can ask the Dr directly and get back to you.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Thanks Karen.

I’m just wondering if others had been advised to do ovulation tracking to avoid trying on the side where previous ectopic was? I’m hesitant to do tracking as it is difficult with work commitments and also I don’t really want to restrict trying to the left side only as this will limit my chances.

Thanks all,

Kate.
