I had an ectopic in March treated with methotrexate. This was our first months ttc and so far I have made it to 14dpo and my period is due tomorrow.
I have had cramping, dizziness, headaches and frequent urination. I know I could test now if I wanted to but I’m scared of the outcome either way. If it’s negative I will be so so upset as I’ve really convinced myself that something feels different this month, but on the other hand I’m petrified that it will say positive and then something bad will happen again. If I test tomorrow morning and it’s positive I would only be 4 and a half weeks and wouldn’t be able to have my early scan at the EPU for another week and a half. In that time I know Il also drive myself mad thinking something might be wrong.
I just don’t know what to do for the best, I could wait and test next week and that was If it’s positive I won’t have too long to wait until the early scan. But then if I wait and it’s negative that’s another whole week of building myself up to be disapointed.
Arrghhhh sorry it’s not really a question I think I just needed somewhere to write how I was feeling as no one around me understands including my partner who is just telling me to wait to see if my period comes. But he doesn’t understand what all this is putting me through not knowing.
I would suggest testing now and if is is positive seeking urgent medical advice with symptoms of tummy cramps, dizziness and urine frequency, as you should be reviewed sooner for possible blood tests or scan with a history of ectopic pregnancy. If it is negative, I would advise testing again tomorrow morning with an early morning urine sample. If this is positive, please again seek medical advice. If it is negative, I would also seek medical advice if your symptoms continue as it could be something else like a urinary tract infection (UTI)
I know this time is fraught with worries, but it is best to be checked out just to be on the safe side.
Sending much love,
Karen x

I would definitely find out if youre pregnant as your symptoms could be other things. If you are pregnant the EPU will see you at 5 and a half weeks so you could call them and tell them everything. I know this as I have an appointment with the EPU tomorrow when I would be 5 and half weeks but I’m about to miscarry. It does sound like you need to see someone sooner and should go to your GP. Let them have a look at you. Could be a bug, infection, anything.

Thank you for your replies! I tested this morning and it was positive!!! I literally can not believe it, our first month ttc again. I made the mistake last time of getting ahead of myself and I don’t want to make that mistake again.
I am PETRIFIED!!!
have tried calling EPU all day but no answer but il keep trying. I’m just over thinking everything now wondering what’s normal and what’s not!
Chaotic blues how did your appointment go today? I am so sorry to read about what you think is happening, it’s just not fair.
Keep trying the EPU, it you cannot get through, please contact your GP surgery who should be able to arrange the scan for you.
You haven’t mentioned it you are still having any dizziness, cramping and urinary symptoms, I would urge you to seek urgent medical advice just to be on the safe side.

Thank you! So overwhelmed! I got through this evening and they have booked me a scan, I haven’t had any of those symptoms since, I have some slight cramping that feels like period pains but other than that seem to be ok!
Lovely to hear that you are pregnant. How are your symptoms now? What week will you be when you see the EPU?
EPU examined and scanned me, obviously saw no baby and took my bloods so I’m sure will confirm today there’s no hcg.

Thank you chaoticblues, I have mild period like cramping but it feels pretty central and I’ve had no pain in the ectopic side since the other day. My scan is booked for 29th June so it’s going to be a very nervous wait until then.
I’m so sorry to hear that, did your hear back from them?
Cramping in pregnancy can be pretty normal and it’s a good sign it’s not in a side, so fingers crossed all goes well on the 29th.
The EPU confirmed my HCG is now negative which I knew from the pregnancy strips. So at least it’s not ectopic or going to be an awful miscarriage, it will come out in my period, a chemical pregnancy.

What wonderful news - I’ve got my fingers crossed for you until your scan!
I remember your and Chaoticblues’ forum names from a few months back when I spent lots of time here. My ectopic was diagnosed in Feb so not too long before yours, Natasha. I can relate to the feelings you both described. My period was late last month, though it turned out to be just that - late. Quite the rollercoaster waiting… I also don’t really feel like my partner gets it. And it’s coming up to nine months from that unfortunate first pregnancy.
Anyhow! Really happy for your news, Natasha. And I hope you’re well Chaoticblues. Sending some good thoughts to both of you. Xo
Thank you so much! It’s still not really sunk in to be honest. Everytime I go for a wee im checking the paper to make sure there’s no blood. But yeah fingers crossed for my scan on Saturday I’m hoping after that I will be able to start enjoying it a little more!
I’m sorry to hear what happened with you! But I totally get what you mentioned about your partner not understanding because mine was the same, I saw the ectopic as we lost our baby, but he sees it at “it was just cells and not a baby yet”. I guess we just process things very differently, but if you ever want to talk to someone who completely understands I am here you can message me anytime!!
I really really hope you get some positive news soon!! And chaoticblues I hope that you are ok xx
