Pregnant after ectopic and worried

Hi

I got a positive pregnancy test on 8th January, the line was super strong and I was feeling really optimistic as I had strong lines and uterine cramps which I can’t remember having last time. I had a ectopic in 2021 and had left tube removed. I called EPU to book in early scan but they won’t even take my call until 6 weeks. I just don’t know how I’m going to get through the next 2 weeks without constant worry. Does anyone know if I request bloods sooner?

Thanks

Hey! I’m so sorry for your worry and concern, I would be exactly the same when my time comes BUT CONGRATULATIONS.

An element of this could be concocted in your head, I know my brain does this!! How are you getting on now?

What I’d PERSONALLY do is go to A&E tell them I think it’s ectopic and amp up the cramp pain. They’ll take your bloods and check everything including HCG.

You can pretend you didn’t hear that from me, but personally, when I’m pregnant again and the slightest bit of pain I’ll be down A&E with a good book, after 5 hours I should know the answers!

KEEP US POSTED!! I can’t wait to read baby is nestled in the right place with a strong heart beat xxxx

Hello

Thanks so much for your reply! I think my worry is I just can’t remember how many weeks I was when I started having issues last time, just feel like I’m waiting around for bad news. I took another test yesterday and the line was even stronger and was actually a dye stealer so that’s giving me hope that it’s progressing well!

I may do what you suggested, however I wonder if I’d be too early for them to even be able to see anything? Im torn because if I go and it’s too early I may end up even more worried, aghhh it’s so difficult. How am I meant to concentrate at work?!? :?

Dear Hei51

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. My mind also started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

If you are in the UK, I certainly wouldn’t recommend going to A&E and saying you have pain if you don’t as resources are severely stretched at the moment. You could speak to your GP about having bloods, however they may not agree if you don’t have any symptoms. Having said this, if you have any symptoms at all, I would obviously advise you seeking urgent medical advice.

I distinctly remember how stressful the wait for my scan was. Not knowing what is happening to.our bodies can be extremely overwhelming, but the signs are good so far. I wish I had more tips to speed up time. Keep your mind busy, read, box sets, go for gentle walks.

We are all here with you,

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x
