I just wanted to share a story of hope with you.
After nearly a year of trying to get pregnant, in October 2017 my left Fallopian tube ruptured due to an ectopic pregnancy and I had emergency surgery to have the whole tube removed. 8 weeks later I found out I was 4 weeks pregnant again. We were absolutely devastated and terrified to find out it was a right sided ectopic. As my HCG was so high - it was more than doubling very 48hrs - I needed surgery to remove the fimbrial ectopic. The surgeon managed to save the tube, but sadly he left a bit of the pregnancy behind and I needed a shot of methotrexate a week later.
This was without a doubt the most traumatic 8 weeks of my life. I was at an all time low, terrified to try again but desperate for a baby. We considered IVF as we were told the chances of a third ectopic was lower. But we decided against it.
In the end we decided to just try to get pregnant for one month, and what would be would be. After that we would consider IVF.
We were unbelievably shocked when we discovered I was pregnant again in that one month. As I type this my healthy, gorgeous 7 month old son is sleeping peacefully in his cot. He is a complete miracle.
Never lose hope and never give up. It’s terrifying, but my advice is to try again if and when you feel ready. It is absolutely worth it.
Dear Fertility-tales,
Oh, this is such wonderful news. I know you have been through such an awful time and I couldn’t be happier for you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your news and give hope to so many.
Sending much love and little kisses for your son,
Karen x

Congratulations on your baby. Your story has given me great hope after 2 ectopics, losing my right tube with the first and now 10 days post methotrexate for a PUL.
Congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby and thank you so much for taking the time to post here. I’m so sorry you’ve been through such a traumatic and difficult time. Thank you for sharing such a positive story, it gives me faith and courage to try again x
I’m so pleased this was helpful. We’re now making the difficult decision of whether to try again for a second baby. It seems such a risk but I also would love a little sibling for my little boy, especially as it took us such a long time to have our son. I should follow you own advice but it’s also really scary. It was two years ago but I still think of those ectopics every day and it makes me so sad x
Congratulations on your rainbow baby. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful story. I given the methotrexate injection last week for my second ectopic pregnancy. I have a 3.5 year old daughter and we want her to have a sibling so bad, but your story gave me hope.
