Hi Ladies,
After a very long 8 weeks I was finally discharged from EUP on Saturday 4th March as my HCG dropped to 5. I am feeling much better in myself this week and feel like I can begin healing mentally & physically now.
I am 32 and received a letter to book in my next smear test at the beginning of January, now that I have been discharged I wondered how long I need to leave it before having it done? I have read online that after you have given birth you need to wait 12 weeks, but I wondered if there was any advice after having an ectopic? It is worth noting that I also had a miscarriage at 10 weeks in November 2022. So I expect my hormones and cells will be a bit all over the place at the moment?
Thanks in advance,
Sophie X
Dear Sophie
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and losses.
NHS guidance doesn’t specifically state about a waiting time for smears after ectopic pregnancy but does say to delay for 12 weeks after miscarriage, so I’m presuming this means ectopic pregnancy too. I would suggest contacting your doctors or healthcare provider who is completing your smear to double check this information as smears are extremely important.
I found the information here- but as mentioned please check with your healthcare provider.

Thanks Karen - I spoke to my GP & they confirmed this did need to be pushed back 12 weeks.
Just posting incase anyone else needs this info in the future!
