short painful periods

Hi everyone. I was reading posts for a while but decided to write myself. Had ectopic in June and my precious baby removed together with my left tube. Since then been feeling very down. I already have a 8 year old son but it would’ve been my partners first. All I want is to have a healthy baby and give my son brother or sister that he is dreaming about.

My periods are regular but very painful and only lasts 2 days and very light. I am stressing now that something is wrong and I won’t conceive.

Hi Gitast. I also had an ectopic in June but had my right tube removed. Since then my periods have changed - the first day is agony and really heavy and then light for another few days. I too worried something was wrong but my GP told me not to worry as things do change after the surgery because of adhesions and scar tissue. I know this doesn’t really help you but at least you know you are not alone. Sending baby dust. x

Dear Gitast

I’m very sorry to hear that you have had an ectopic pregnancy. It is such a devastating experience and leaves us with lots of worries about things we probably never even thought about before.

Although there is no medical reason for it, women do very often report some irregularity to their cycle for several months after an ectopic pregnancy. Generally women find that their periods start to settle down and return to their normal pattern in time. I found it helpful to keep a record of mine - when they started and how long they lasted - and I discussed it with my GP / doctor after a few months. He was able to reassure me that things seemed normal.

Much love
