Weird Periods

Hi all,

I had an ectopic in March and had my left tube removed. My periods have been all over the place since, but I didn’t have regular periods beforehand, either. Long story. Anyway, my periods have gotten even weirder lately and the doctor won’t help me yet because he said I am not far enough after the ectopic. My period this time was one day of bleeding that started watery and then got more heavy, then the next day was almost no blood and just lots of tiny flecks of tissue when I pee. Today it’s basically gone. Has this happened to anyone else? I am feeling so alone

Dear Lilo,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,

Periods can take quite a few months to settle back into a pattern that is more usual for us. From some posts we get on these boards, some ladies don’t go back to having periods like they were before.

I would suggest keeping a dairy of your periods and in a few months speaking to your doctor again.

Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, If you have a period that is completely different to your usual periods (which sounds like your current period) and you are trying to conceive, I would suggest doing a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side and get medical advice with any concerns.

Sending much love,

Karen x
