I had an ectopic in March, treated with expectant management. I’m now 7 weeks pregnant from LMP with my scan on Tuesday. I never had any symptoms last time except for bleeding and a bit of groin pain on the opposite side but i don’t think that was related? So, I’m worried we are going to end up in the same position again and I’m paranoid every time I go to the loo that I’m going to find blood anyone got any positive stories for their rainbow baby?
Dear Adelelea12,
Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,
After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.
My first pregnancy was ectopic, I had methotrexate injection. My second pregnancy was successful, so I hope that gives you some hope. Remember the chances of a further ectopic after a first in UK is 10%. So that’s 90% chance of the embryo being in right place this time.
Sending much love and positive thoughts,
Karen x
