Pregnant before the 3 month recommendation

Hi All,

I am a complete nervous wreck.

Had methotrexate on 12th May, HCG went down to one and I was discharged.

I have just found out I’m pregnant, we think we conceived on the 18th June.

Has anyone conceived before the recommendation of 3 months and baby been ok??

Dear Nicole,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

We have had heard of people conceiving before having folic acid for 12 weeks following methotrexate. I presume the pregnancies went well, but we often don’t hear back at the end of pregnancies. I would suggest speaking to your GP or medical team and informing them that you have not had the full dose of folic acid. They may be able to test your folate levels and keep a closer eye on you during pregnancy just to be on the safe side.

Don’t forget to book in for your early pregnancy scan at around 6 weeks also.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x

Thank you very much,

We have been for our scan today. Babies in the womb with a beating heart. Just 2mm big .

Dr has prescribed higher dose of folic acid than what I would usually require to assist with the lack of it leading up.

Will keep this thread updated as there is very little about this on the internet x

Dear Nicole,

That is great news, I am really pleased to hear that you have been reviewed and advised accordingly.

Although we obviously would still advise anyone reading this thread to take folic acid supplements for 3 months before trying to conceive, you are right in that there isn’t a thread that goes right through the pregnancy, so if you could keep it open and update us, that would be great.

It’s great that you’ve had such good news today,

Sending much love and positive thoughts for a smooth pregnancy,

Karen x
