Pregnant after ectopic and a successful pregnancy

Hi,

I had a miscarriage in 2015, an ectopic in 2016 (surgery removal of left tube after failEd MTX) and then I had my daughter in 2017.

I have just found out I’m pregnant again after 18 months of trying. I believe I still need a 6 week scan but wondered if this is still the same with Covid 19? Still feeling very worried despite having had my daughter. Any advice on what to do gratefully received. Can I still self refer?

Sending love to you all.

Hello

I was in a similar situation a week ago. Found out I was pregnant after a Salpingostomy for ruptured ectopic 6 months ago. My other tube didn’t look functional so they managed to save the ruptured one thank goodness. I phoned my local EPU and they booked me in for an early scan just before 6 weeks. I had it yesterday and it’s in the right place! I’ve been have cramps where my surgery was so was convinced it would be another ectopic. It was too early for a heart beat though, but still very relieved! Only thing was my partner wasn’t able to attend the appointment because of Covid.

Hope that helps!

Hi…I just wanted to know that did u have mild cramps in normal pregnancy as well…like very early on

Thank Lizi. Congratulations on the news it is in the correct place. I’ve been having a little bit of mild pain on my left side but I’m hoping as I don’t have a tube there it’s just from the surgery and everything stretching again. That is really useful to know. I think I’ll call my EPU today and see if it’s an option for me to have an early scan.

Also it was the same with my daughter we couldn’t see a heart beat at 6 weeks but 10 days later it was there! :grinning:

Yes I had one sided cramps around the time I think I was implanting so was really worried it was an ectopic again. The wait for the scan was soooo long!

Hi Lisa

Yes early pregnancy units are still open and you will be able to get an early scan through nhs, I just had 1 last week.

Thank you- I’ve just spoken to them and made an appointment. Thanks for responding
