Hey everyone. My first post here and wondering if anyone has any advice.
Last year I suffered an ectopic pregnancy and ended up being blue lighted to hospital and having emergency surgery to remove my left tube
After recovering for a while I fell pregnant again 6 months later and shortly after miscarried before i even got to doctors or anything.
Well nearly a year on We have managed to conceive again!! But as it was friday evening i found out i have not yet seen a doctor/midwife due to the weekend and then working. So im curious and going out of my mind. Will they be able to scan or check me to make sure I am not having another ectopic. I really am worried if I loose my other tube i will never be able to have another baby Working out my dates I would be guessing I’m 7 +3.
Has anyone ever been through this that could shed some light for me?
I am in a very similar situation. I also lost a left tube in emergency surgery after my symptoms were dismissed by an out of hours dr. This was all 18 months ago. I am now 5 weeks pregnant for the first pregnancy since. I have been referred to early pregnancy unit for a scan which will apparently happen at 7-8 weeks. I have also made enquiries about a private scan as depending on how long nhs scan takes I might pay for one to check not in tubes. Apparently they can tell from 6 ish weeks.
After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. When I next felt pregnant my mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.
Speaking from UK medical practice and standards, usually doctors carry out an internal transvaginal scan at around six weeks with subsequent pregnancies after an ectopic. This is because there is a reasonable chance of seeing an embryo around this six week mark.
We advise contacting your local EPU, reminding them of your ectopic pregnancy and booking an appointment. If you are unable to self refer, contact your GP who will be able to do this for you.
Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, I sadly have to remind you that if you experience any unusual bleeding, abdominal pain, shoulder tip pain, bladder or bowel problems or feel dizzy and unwell to seek urgent medical advice.
Sending much love and positive thoughts,
Karen x

Hello. I hope you’ve managed to see someone. I was advised after my surgery, on getting pregnant again that I would be given a scan at 6weeks 2days. From this point I was advised a heartbeat can be seen and early enough to prevent damage to my remaining Fallopian tube by catching a subsequent ectopic early. I really wish you so much luck you’re baby is where it should be. Xxx
