Pregnant after 2 ectopic pregnancies and 7 miscarriages

Hi, i found out yesterday im around 6 weeks pregnant. This came as a massive shock. I am 37 yrs old. I had 6 miscarriage from yhe age of 23 followed by my furst ectopic pregnancy at 30 yrs old resulting in my loosing my left fallopian tube. 6 weeks after my 1st ectopic, i had my second. They managed to save my right tube. 2 year later i was diagnosed with endometriosis and had key hole surgery. I was put on a fertility drug and became pregnant. Unfortunately i miscarried.
I have not fallen pregnant since i was 32 (5 years ago) so i accepted that i would never have children and just lived my life. I am so shocked that i am pregnant. That in its self is a miracle considering all the factors against me however i am stressing out and worrying to the point its making me poorly.
Im so frightened its going to be another ectopic pregnancy. Has anyone been through this or have any advice please

Hi Kate29,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy.

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions, and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. When I found out I was pregnant again, my mind started racing, and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time, and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

It is usual for doctors carry out an internal transvaginal scan at around six weeks with subsequent pregnancies after an ectopic. This is because there is a reasonable chance at six weeks of seeing an embryo around this six-week mark. I completely understand how difficult it is counting down to the six-week scan, but I can reassure you that waiting until you are 6 weeks is standard practice.

I am not sure who you have been in contact with to arrange your scan, but we advise contacting your local EPU to inform them and book in for an early scan at around six weeks. Remind them of your previous ectopic pregnancy. This self-refer route is the best route in our view. Hopefully, you will have some comfort in knowing you are under the radar of medical professionals right away.

Also, while I do not want to alarm you, if you experience any pain or unusual bleeding, please do get medical attention as soon as you can.

Sending warm hugs and positive thoughts,

Michele
