Possible 3rd ectopic

Hi

I’m looking for some advice or information from your own experiences please. I have had 2 ectopics the 2nd one back in March and have been ttc again since June. With my previous 2 ectopics urine pregnancy tests were always negative (I took many) so blood tests were the only way I was able to confirm pregnancy. I want to avoid going to the doctor for a blood test unless I feel quite certain I have another ectopic as I don’t want to keep asking for blood tests unnecessarily. Also if i am totally honest I’m not ready to face up to being told it’s another ectopic. I am having what could be a period at the mo. It’s unbelievably heavy (I’ve ruined 3 pairs of trousers today, 2 pairs of knickers and got through many sanitary towels…sorry for tmi) the strange thing is I’m not getting any cramping pains. I don’t feel as if I’m “on” I’m just bleeding really heavily. Is this something any of you experienced with ectopics? I have been having the odd pain before the bleeding started but nothing too serious and no pain since bleeding which is very unusual for me if it’s a period.

Hope this makes sense

Thanks in advance for any experiences you may have to share x

Hello,

Sorry to hear that this has happened twice to you already, i hope and pray this is not happening for a 3rd time.

I think to be safe, you should visit the doctors, even if just for peace of mind. From the date i found out my pregnancy was ectopic to the date that my blood tests finally came back all clear, i constantly bled and sometimes quite heavily, yet i never felt any pain until after i had the methotrexate injection.

I wish you all the best and really hope this is not happening to you again, but do not let your body fool you into thinking nothing is wrong, just because there is no pain. Doctors were baffled by my case, as i was not in pain but on the scans the pregnancy looked very big.

Best wishes,

Heather.

Dear Rainbowdash82,

Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your bleeding however I would advise that if you find the bleeding increases so that you are soaking more than a pad in an hour to seek medical advice. Please do not feel that you are bothering health care professionals, given that you have had negative urine hCG tests in the past and sadly gone on to have ectopic pregnancies and this bleeding is u usual for you, it is best to get checked out just to be on the safe side.

Sadly I do have to remind you that if you experience any abdominal pain, shoulder tip pain, unusual bladder or bowel problems or feel dizzy and unwell please seek urgent medical advice.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Thank you for your advice ladies. The bleeding stopped after that day so I am very confused as to what it was all about. If anything else odd happens I will get it checked out. For now I’m just glad a hospital trip isn’t needed. Thanks again x
