Positive story

Hi

I just wanted to share my story to give hope to anyone going through what I went through, as I used to trawl through these posts looking for some positive pregnancy stories.

I had an ectopic pregnancy back in April 2020 after what had felt like a long time TTC (it was in fact still less than 12 months). I had my right tube removed and was obviously devastated.

I was fully prepared for it to take 12 months or more to fall pregnant again but in fact after 1 accupuncture session fell pregnant about 5 months TTC and I’m now sitting holding my 6 week old baby girl:two_hearts:.

I was very anxious during the first few weeks of pregnancy. Some experiences and outcomes I had:

  • I had read way too much on line and asked my GP to measure my HCG 48 hours apart at about 6/7 weeks to see if it was doubling. It went from 60,000 to 80,000 in 72 hours so definately not doubling. I was beside myself but everything was totally fine. In fact the HCG only doubles for about the first 4 weeks (GP a bit clueless about all of it)

  • Had early scan at EPU at about 5 weeks. Midwife confirmed pregnancy in uterus but went on to tell me she could not detect fetal pole or heart beat etc and could either be because it was too early or the pregnancy wasn’t viable. Again I was beside myself but a private scan at 8 weeks confirmed everything was normal and it was just just few days too early to observe the fetal pole.

  • Lots of twinging in first few weeks before my early scan. Was terrified it was another ectopic. I don’t want to encourage anyone not to get checked out if they have pain or concerns but also want to highlight that twinges(not severe pain) on one or both sides can be perfectly normal.

I hope reading this makes someone feel a little bit better. Xx

Hi

Thank you for your post. I had an ectopic in Febuary with removal of right tube. I am now pregnant again (6 weeks) I had my 6 week scan and they couldn’t see anything. They also did an internal scan and couldn’t see anything. I have had my hgc levels done. I am going to get them done again in 48 hours. It could be another ectopic or the pregnancy might just not be big enough to see on scan yet.

I am worried sick. But I still have some hope. Thank you for your positive story.

Its really encouraging for those who get stressed easily. Thanks for your kind words.
