Can anyone help please ? In june of this year I had to remove my ectopic pregnancy and my right tube. I’ve had 3 periods since and I’ve been tracking my ovulation/ periods on an app and according to the app my ovulation is in 2 days… basically could I be ovulating earlier as I’ve been experiencing a few period type pains and cervical mucus. Can an ectopic change when you ovulate as in early or late ? Just wondered what everyone’s experiences were after there ectopic in regards to tracking ovulation and ttc again.
Dear I senoj8989,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
It is quite common for your periods to take a few months to get into a rhythm that is more normal for you.
It’s fine if you wish to continue to monitor your ovulation however in terms of TTC, the Trust recommend having regular sex, which means having sex every 2/3 days throughout the month. Guidance from the UK’s National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence advises that having sex around the time when the woman ovulates causes stress and is not recommended. We here at the EPT suggest having intercourse 2/3 times between days 10-20 of their cycle when trying to conceive.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Hello
I have a query regarding ovulation I had my first period after two and a half months after surgery around the 1st of this month I am getting sharp pains in my right side
Close to my cervix area a little above do you think this is ovulation? And a little on my left side and around my back
Dear Melissa_11,
Sadly I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your pain, however it could be ovulation pain.
Experiencing some pain after an ectopic pregnancy is normal as your body has been through a great deal. The pain may be due to adhesions (scar tissue that binds two parts of the body together) which form and take some time to settle. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through.
If the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.
If the pain worsens or you feel unwell with it or experience any unusual vaginal bleeding or discharge please seek urgent medical advice.
Sending much love,
Karen x
