I had an ectopic pregnancy in November 2022 and have not had a positive ovulation digital test since, is this normal? How long will it take for ovulation to start again as normal?
Hi Kirstin,
I’m sorry to hear you have suffered an ectopic pregnancy and loss. Many women find changes in their periods following treatment for ectopic pregnancy.
Regarding resuming a period, there can be considerable variation between women. Your periods can take a while to re-establish, and they can restart anything between two and ten weeks after treatment. Broadly speaking, doctors consider menstrual (period) cycles of between 23 to 42 days to be within normal parameters.
I’m not medically qualified and cannot comment on your specific situation. Your ectopic experience is still quite recent, and it may be the case that your period will take a bit longer to return. However, if you are concerned, it is important to make an appointment with your doctor to discuss the possible reasons for this.
With good wishes,
Michele
